Title: DH consultation on Direct Payments for Healthcare

Summary: This consultation asked for views about piloting the use of Personal Health Budgets (PHBs) by patients in England. We were supportive of this policy direction, which increases both patient choice and control. We expected that effective use of public money would be a consideration for how PHBs are used. We also believed that those patients involved in the pilot should have an outlet to raise concerns with the relevant Primary Care Trust and that feedback could form part of the evaluation.
