Title: NMC consultation on raising and escalating concerns

Date: March 2010

Summary: The consultation sought views on draft guidance for nurses and midwives on raising and escalating concerns about things happening at work. We welcomed the work to refresh this guidance. We agreed with the focus on resolving issues locally where possible, with ‘whistleblowing’ only being a last resort. We also made some detailed comments about drafting and structure.
